Burger Brief: Home Plate BBQ's Itis

Burger Brief takes a look at some of the vendors taking part in this year's Burger Cup Launch Party on August 15, as well as the top seeds in this year's the Beijinger Burger Cup ranking

Name: Adam Murray
Nationality: USA
Venue: Co-owner of Home Plate BBQ
Number of years in Beijing: 9+ years
Signature Burger: The Itis

Tell us about your signature burger. What makes it the best burger in Beijing?
The Itis has double beef patties, two slices of cheddar cheese, two slices of our house-cured maple bacon, fried pickles, caramelized onions, and our special Home Plate BBQ aioli sauce on a hot buttery toasted bun.

What does the burger come with?
All of our burgers come with an option to add one of our classic sides for an additional RMB 13.

What drink from your menu goes best with the burger?
If you feel like a beer go for one of our craft or imported brews like Slow Boat, Jing-A Brewing, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, or Boulevard, although we have fresh homemade sweet tea and lemonade too.

What other burgers do you have on the menu?
With our new menu we have other new burgers like the Cowboy Blue and The Dixie with our pimento cheese. We also have four new BBQ Burgers with different choices of our smoked meats.

Do you have any burger deals or specials?
Every Monday to Friday, from 11am to 2pm, we have a lunch special menu. You can come in for great deals on combo meals with various burgers, sides, and drinks

What was the best burger you've ever had, in Beijing or otherwise?
My favorite burger is a Double Double from Dyer's Burgers in downtown Memphis. Nothing fancy about it, squishy white bun, two beef patties fried in the same grease Dyer's has been using for 100 years or something like that, and American cheese with mustard, pickles, and onions. Simple and delicious.
