A Particularly Strong Full Lineup Surfaces for Strawberry Music Festival 2016

The folks at Modern Sky are gearing up to bring you a deep selection of artists from China and beyond that will rock your face off over the course of three days (Apr 30-May 2) this May holiday. The full lineup was just released, and we have to say, despite earlier reservations, it’s looking pretty great.

With many of the imported acts taking the main stage, there seems to be a live electronics focus, with bands like Prodigy (UK), Disclosure (UK, video above), Modestep (UK), and Egopusher (CH), just to name a few. We’re not sure if it’s the virtual reality theme they seem to be incorporating or what, but that just appears to be the way the wind is blowing this year. With one exception. A highlight, will be America's Pissed Jeans (pictured at top), a raucous noise rock band that totally lives up to the pungent sound of their name and punk musings on such phenomena as balding and ongoing apathy. This will be ideal for fans of Nirvana, Mudhoney, or Melvins.

There are also, of course, a bunch of big name Chinese bands that will be on the main stage strutting their stuff. These include acts like New Pants, Leah Dou (daughter of Faye Wang), Queen Sea Big Shark, and Second Hand Rose. The Chinese lineup is without a doubt the focus of this year’s fest as Modern Sky seems to be making full use of their grasp on the local scene and have handpicked the pop stars from Beijing and other cities that will have the biggest draw. As we divulged before, the 2016 Strawberry Festival will be going down at Grand Epoch City in Hebei. The festival organizers have mentioned that people will be allowed to camp out on the premises instead of having to endure the hour and a half commute a couple of times throughout the course of the long weekend. This certainly makes things easier for those of you who don’t mind roughing it or find the incessant whiff of portable toilets comforting but make sure you go prepared as the weather during this season can be a little volatile. Case in point: that giant windstorm at the 2014 Strawberry Festival.

Click over here if you wish to pick up advance tickets (RMB 180-600) and reserve your spot to this one of a kind event. We can’t think of a better way to greet the summer than the fantastic combo of live music and fun in the sun that only a music festival of this caliber can provide.
