Readers Restaurant Award VS Restaurant Week: How Results Compared

As our Reader Restaurant Awards conveniently coincide with Dining City’s Restaurant Week, we thought it apt to compare what you guys think about Beijing's best eats with that of their coupon-inclined crowd.

It seems clear that newcomer Temple Restaurant is doing something right. You gave them thumbs up when it came to both our Restaurant of the Year award and that of Best for Impressing Visitors. The guys over at Dining City seem equally impressed. They awarded “Best Restaurant” to this fine dining spot set in a Buddhist temple.

Yunnanese newbie Lost Heaven has also done well. This folk-themed restaurant earned our Best New Chinese Restaurant award and Dining City went so far as to dub them “Best Chinese Restaurant” over the Beijingers' favourite, Da Dong Roast Duck.

While you thought Sanlitun deli-chain, Wagas, was Beijing’s best newcomer, Dining City preferred a pricier Shanghai import. They chose posh fusion restaurant, Mesa, which opened only a few months ago.

Another area where opinions diverged was the Best Japanese category. While you voted for Sanlitun’s sushi-joint, Hatsune, Dining City opted for high-end restaurant Inagiku instead. Perhaps they’re just a bit classier than we are?

The votes may be in, but it's not too late to give your comments right here. Between the two food awards, where do you stand when it comes to your top picks?

Thanks for your comments and readership. To answer your question, this was the author's take on the two sets of awards, and beyond that there is no reason for the omission of Eatalia. We've reviewed them quite positively here as have many of our readers.

In fact it finished in 2nd, ahead of Inagiku in terms of rating.

Why no mention of Eatalia? 3rd overall with about 30% the price of #1 and 2, and the winner of group B...goddam Annie's won best casual Italian AND restaurant in the Beijinger awards. Eatalia is 100x better than Annies but for some reason you omit them as winners...does not computer.
