The U.S. Embassy in Beijing provides an AQI, not necessarily 'the' AQI. You can choose another meter from which to get your info. No one is forcing you to use only one. For your second part, you need to ask the Chinese gov't if they provide such, and if not, why not. It would be silly to pose such a question about Chinese consulates to a host government. When you have an answer from the Chinese gov't, I'm interestd in the reply. Please do share.

I find it very suspicious that the US Embassy provides the Air Quality Index... don't you?

Do the Chinese Consulates in the US provide an Incarceration Index or a Personal Debt Index or a Tyranny Index or a Amerikan Imperialism Index (A.I.I.)???

What gives?
